07/03/2024

The IX Castilla y León Economic Awards recognized Finca Villacreces as the Best Sustainable Company in Castilla y León for its commitment to the environment and respect for its surroundings.
At the awards ceremony, which was also attended by Jorge Llorente, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation of the Regional Government of Castilla y León, the Ribera del Duero winery received the award that confirms Villacreces, which belongs to the Ribera del Duero DO, as the most sustainable company of 2023 in Castilla y León.
Since the Antón family took possession of the Villacreces Estate in 2003, the company has maintained its commitment to respect the land and the environment that surrounds it. A commitment to environmental management under criteria of sustainability and environmental protection that covers everything from the vineyard, through the different winemaking processes, to the offices and wine tourism that take place on the estate. Similarly, the 64 hectares of vineyards surrounding the winery are cultivated following the parameters of organic viticulture.
Aware of the importance of respect, Finca Villacreces has managed to reduce CO2 emissions by implementing an energy efficiency plan, using new technologies, employing renewable energies, optimizing water management to reduce consumption and reducing waste, without forgetting the recycling of plastic, paper, cardboard, glass and corks.
All this work has been fundamental to being elected Best Sustainable Company of Castilla y León in the awards organized every year by the magazine Castilla y León Económica.
This contest has become one of the most important in the region, with more than 504 projects presented in the last nine years. On receiving the award, Lalo Antón, general manager of Finca Villacreces, thanked "all the companies in the region for the effort they make to minimize the impact of their activities on the environment and recognized the importance of this type of award, which highlights the responsibility of organizations".
